[Cornwall, United Kingdom] – It is with deep regret Player XP has to announce the cancellation of the highly anticipated United By Games (UBG) event, originally scheduled to take place at The Westin in San Francisco on March 20th.

The cancellation comes as a result of unforeseen circumstances surrounding the contractual arrangements between Player XP, The Westin St. Francis. and Informa PLC the creators of GDC. It has come to our attention that the Game Developers Conference (GDC) has full approval control over all events in the area and does not permit activities classified as competitive events, including United By Games. Despite our efforts to comply with all known regulations and guidelines, The Westin St. Francis failed to notify us of this provision in our contract and subsequently cancelled our venue less than a month out from the time of the event.

United By Games would like to acknowledge the assistance provided by the GDC team in exploring alternative venues to assist with the continuation of the event. However, given the last-minute nature of this change and limitations around space and budget, we regret to inform our attendees, sponsors, and partners that we are unable to move forward as intended.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused to all participants, and we will be refunding all ticket purchases incurred by attendees. In place of the originally planned event, we will be welcoming speakers and partners to attend our replacement VIP Lunch on March 20th as a celebration and thank you for your efforts.

United By Games remains committed to promoting and uplifting Charities and Community Professionals and celebrating the vibrant gaming industry. We are exploring future opportunities to host similar US events in compliance with local regulations and guidelines, and we appreciate the continued support of our community.

Sincerely,
