Player XP is excited to be hosting United By Games!
United By Games is a 1-day event tailored to community professionals within the gaming industry. Based in Rich Mix, London it provides the perfect opportunity to learn from other experienced Community Managers, Social Media Managers, and game company representatives to participate in panels, join in fireside chats and overall be celebrated!
We chose London because it has one of the most diverse populations in the world. We hope to be able to embrace this diversity to hear the voices and stories from all corners of the gaming industry. Our venue, Rich Mix, often showcases artists from every genre imaginable from a wide range of cultures and backgrounds, perfect for our event with similar themes. Guests can view the gallery during designated breaks during the event. (Most importantly the complimentary lunch attendees can enjoy as they chat and network.)
Recent gaming events have a lingering stigma that we hope to eliminate across the entire industry. This starts with us – United By Games is an alcohol free event. Although this may be controversial, we firmly stand by the idea that events can foster meaningful connection without alcohol. We want to eliminate the opportunity for the type of negative encounters that have rocked the industry of late and prevent those events from happening. What better place to serve tea than London!
Our program is carefully considered. We aim to delve into aspects of the gaming industry that our communities face every day (some can be quite tough to tackle). Our themes for 2023 include:
- Mental Health & Wellbeing – How to be the watcher on the wall.
- Empowering the Community – How to foster positive feedback across multiple aspects of the community and create player advocates.
- Building a community from scratch within the indie space – if you build it will they come?
- Dealing with toxicity and how to create the right environment for players
- Making social media and community more accessible
- Mentorship – how to be one, how to find one
- Breaking the silo – imposter syndrome
- Real stories from the front: intense tales and what we learnt from them
- Nurturing and Safeguarding your audience of all ages
